Top 5 Console and PC to VR Games
Making the transition from a console or PC title to the VR space is not easy – and it often doesn’t even work out at all. But that’s not every game and, probably more than any other port, these games can do a lot to get new gamers into virtual reality gaming.
It’s simple math really: If you’re already a fan of Resident Evil, of course, you’re going to try out the VR version of Resident Evil 7…or at least you’re more likely to do that.
In this article, we’re going to share with you 5 titles that made the leap from console and PC smash hit to awesome VR game.
The premise is simple. If you enjoy the traditional version, you’ll probably like the VR version. We didn’t put anything more to it than that.
Here are our top 5 PC to VR games available right now:
5. Resident Evil 7 VR
Bringing Resident Evil to VR makes perfect sense until you start to consider some of the conventions popular in modern RE titles. Way more action-oriented than they are tank controls and jump scare heavy, modern RE became way more 1990s action film than it was a survival horror flick. That all changed with RE 7 which took a decidedly darker turn and restored the series to its roots in many ways. Part of the gritty nature of this RE game is the use of a first-person perspective instead of an over-the-shoulder view like that used in most of the modern RE games. This level of immersion makes it intense from the beginning and a perfect showcase of basic survival horror concepts in VR.
The most recent incarnations of DOOM make for perfect VR titles. Who would have thought it? The game series that was originally blamed for turning everyone into media-obsessed, game-obsessed hordes, DOOM’s VR treatment is about as compelling as they come and takes the best of the remake – fast action, tons of violence and gore – and puts it into an easily accessible game that loses none of its intensity.
3. Fallout 4 VR
If you’ve waited for an excuse to try out a Fallout game, Fallout 4 VR might be the excuse you need to head into the Commonwealth wastes and see what all the fuss is about. Again, this is an approximation of the mainline title but it is one that sacrifices pretty much nothing in the translation. You’ll get to build, craft, slaughter, and solve quest puzzles and mysteries all while doing it in extreme 1950s Atomic chic style.
2. The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim VR
The Elder Scrolls’ latest masterpiece comes to VR and it is the game that everyone wanted but no one imagined would come so soon. We applaud Bethesda for this bold experiment, and it shows just how far VR could take things and how much it can do that traditional gaming methods cannot. Dive headfirst into the most epic fantasy VR title out there with Skyrim VR and don’t say we didn’t warn you when the eye strain and headaches set in from your marathon game sessions.
1. No Man’s Sky
A game that has grown with each update and improved immensely since its launch, the VR iteration of No Man’s Sky transformed a ho-hum game into a must-play VR title. It makes perfect sense when you look at the immersive nature of No Man’s Sky, but no one imagined it would work out quite this well. If flying around and exploring distant vistas in a made-up universe appeals to you, then book your flight to No Man’s Sky as soon as you can.
