Vroom Vroom Vroom!

Vroom Kaboom VR is a multiplayer card collecting game, with vehicles bashing through towers at every moment. With similar aspects to popular card games such as Clash Royale, Vroom Kaboom uses the tower rushing mechanic, in conjunction with card collecting and vehicle units that are used to take down opponents. Vroom Kaboom offers many different vehicles, each with their own pros and cons. The fast-paced gameplay coupled with VR lets the player experience action-packed scenes filled with guns and explosions and truly immerse themselves in the carnage and warfare.

What sets Vroom Kaboom different from the other tower rushing games is its feature to control each individual vehicle. While each vehicle can move on its own will, the player is able to control each vehicle to their liking. Whether players are vaulting over hills, or ramming their motorbikes into the other players’ tower, the player can use these aspects to make every shot and crash as damaging as possible. This feature has not been seen in widely popular tower rushing games, but this bold move might even influence other similar features to incorporate such an option.

Similar to current business tactics, the game chooses to incorporate what is known as a “gacha game” mechanic, wherein many of the playable cars are able to be unlocked by drawing them in their respective card forms through a means that remains yet to be revealed. The ways to draw these lots remains a mystery, but many companies employ a common tactic where draws can be earned with both in-game currency and real money.

However, this overall concept is controversial in the world of games, as it creates a “pay to win” atmosphere for the game and turns prospective buyers away, as they seem to believe that the people who pay more money for in-game items will gain an advantage over players who buy the base game and don’t have as large of an arsenal. This topic is so controversial that even AAA games have been slammed for adding this mechanic, namely Electronic Arts (EA) with the infamous game Star Wars Battlefront II, which nearly killed the game in the process.

After this disaster, EA completely changed how the game functioned and even changed the company’s model for making games entirely. For games like this, the balance of in-game unlockables is infinitely more important, as the gacha system must feel like a fair system that rarely affects the game in order to fully balance the game and, in turn, keep the people playing the game. In the end, it is up to the creators to balance this system and create a fair unlocking system.

The heavy customization of decks in conjunction with the multitude of vehicles makes the gameplay not as linear. Different loadouts of vehicles may aid the player in the game but when to use and position the vehicles creates a sense of unpredictability. Due to a large number of vehicles available in the game, the player can customize their deck to their own playstyle. These combinations of vehicles could create a “Meta” once players find the most optimal builds and combinations. This could aid in the development of the competitive scene in Vroom Kaboom. This could be said for many other competitive card games such as Clash Royale, in which the higher tier players use “Meta” decks.

Another key aspect of the game is its ability to play the game both with and without the addition of virtual reality. As of now, the game boasts that it can be played on the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR though it can be run just as easily without VR. Though this seems like a relatively cheap gimmick to fit the new plain of virtual reality, this addition is actually much less of a blank insert and much more of an active one. As the name of the game entails, you are going to be taking tricked out cars for joy rides at breakneck speeds, and all the while blowing up everything in your path.

Needless to say, the gameplay certainly promises to be fast-paced and brutal. There will be explosions, carnage, death, and it is going to be exhilarating. This is where the virtual reality feature comes in, throwing you straight in the middle of this wreck-fest to follow the action to further extents than your computer ever could. While your computer certainly projects the image of such a battle, VR headsets go one step further and physically bring you into that world, which proves to be all the better for such a high-energy title as Vroom Kaboom.

Overall Vroom Kaboom VR Multiplayer is a card game manifested in a high explosive, action vehicular game. This game is a perfect fit for those who love constant action and strategy. Those who also like individual play coupled with multiplayer may also be attracted to Vroom Kaboom. Furthermore, this game couples well with people who are looking for a high explosive VR game. Those who want to fully immerse themselves in an action VR with vehicles should consider Vroom Kaboom VR. Vroom Kaboom fills many different niches of players, only time will tell how it stands against the other card game style giants.
