Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus and defense company Anduril, appears to have insider knowledge about the upcoming Apple XR headset expected to be unveiled at WWDC next month. In a tweet posted earlier this week he confirmed that he has experienced it and claims it is “so good”. Although not officially confirmed, rumors suggest the mixed reality headset will contain both virtual reality and augmented reality capabilities which were first seen with Meta Quest Pro.
Luckey has previously critiqued other headsets such as Magic Leap’s ML1 calling it “a tragedy in the classical sense”, warning people of Magic Leap’s overhyping its product whilst lacking features required for development in AR applications. However his experience with Apple seems much more positive so far. The answer to whether or not this hype is warranted won’t truly be uncovered until the June 5th keynote event happens where we’ll finally get an official look into what they’ve been working on!
