Meta, the world leading Virtual Reality (VR) brand, this week announced an expansion of their already existing partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA). Starting this year, Meta users will have access to even more live NBA matches broadcast in VR and also be able to purchase officially licensed NBA/WNBA apparel for their Avatar on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro headsets.
In addition to watching games through Xtadium – a sports-based app for Quest Headsets that allows users to host private watch parties in VR – fans can subscribe to the NBA League Pass formore content. Horizon Worlds will provide 52 free broadcasts of NBA games over the course of the season as well as 5 180 degree videos captured at 2880 resolution located in ‘NBA Arena’, highlighted by celebrity commentary. Select WNBA, NBA G League, and NBA 2K League games are also expected over 2021-2023 seasons.
