Meta, the parent company of Oculus, recently published a quick video showing how two Quest Pro headsets can work together to create local multiplayer experiences through sharing point cloud data. By being able to sync up point clouds between players in VR games, users should obtain the highest level of positional accuracy between them. Though colocation services are not yet available on all Quest headsets, Meta is allowing it for its newest headset model -Quest Pro- and has made it a ‘pro’ feature. Furthermore, Meta has demonstrated their capabilities by creating an arena-scale multiplayer prototype based on Dead & Buried back in 2018 which shows that they could eventually open up colocation services for the entire Quest platform in the near future.
