Meta has released the v50 update for Quest 2 that brings many new and exciting features. One of these is a ‘Direct Touch’ capability, which makes hand-tracked UI navigation a more intuitive experience by allowing users to tap and swipe through the Home UI just like on a mobile device. In addition, Quest 2 can now multitask in-game with two dimensional apps for convenience and ease of use. The update also brought significant changes to the Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers halving its initial tracking time, removing some popular social features such as creating or joining parties from Quest 1 while giving players access to an even more natural touch experience on their headsets. Finally, later this year Meta will launch their next headset – the mixed reality focused Quest 3 modeled after its predecessor with no face-tracking capabilities due to cost restrictions.
