Google’s Project Starline is ushering in a new era of remote communication, making it possible to talk with people from far away locations as if they were right there in front of you. The system utilizes advanced AI and lightfield display technology to generate lifelike 3D models that can be interacted with by multiple participants on either side of the conversation. Thanks to recent developments, Google unveiled an even more powerful version—the sleek new prototype only requires a handful of standard cameras instead of the copious amount previously needed when first announced back in 2021. Meaning, this “magic window” has been scaled down for easy access outside the conventional booth-sized unit required before. Companies such as Salesforce and T-Mobile have already jumped at this opportunity during its early access program where their users are boasting “promising” results after testing out the 3D visuals provided through Project Starline… but unfortunately no news on whether or not we will get our hands on one yet has come forth from Google just yet!
