Sony is expanding the capabilities of its longstanding racing franchise, Gran Turismo 7, and announced this week at CES 2023 that players will be able to launch PSVR 2 with a free upgrade for existing owners. This marks the first time that the next generation console, PlayStation 5`s virtual reality headset will be available for use in-game.
SIE President Jim Ryan shared during the event that 30 million PS5 units have already been sold and reassured customers that it should now become easier to find the console available for purchase from this point forward – something VR early-adopters investing in PSVR2 need to bear in mind when upgrading. Details are still sparse on how compatibility between GT7 and PSVR 2 as well as what degree of motion controller/gamepad input is supported but we`re hoping it’ll provide comprehensive support compared to 2017’s GT Sport’s version featuring limited mode variants tied only gamepad input.
