Well, the hit HBO show might have come to an end, satisfying or not, but it looks like Game of Thrones will live on forever in licensing and branding opportunities such as a VR experience on Viveport Infinity.
What is it exactly? The Next Web reports that the virtual reality app is called “Beyond the Wall” and tasks players with defending side wall from the White Walkers and their wights. If you’ve watched the show, you know exactly what we’re talking about here but, if you haven’t, just think some kind of tower defense game in VR as far as mechanics and strategy go.
Beyond the Wall was developed by Framestore which is a digital effects company that’s gotten a lot of work in Hollywood. Apparently, “Beyond the Wall” is a sword-fighting VR game where you hack and slash against waves of the aforementioned enemies. Pretty standard fare, really, and should be more than enough to please fans. Is it a good game? The jury seems to be out on that though we have many reasons to believe it is way better than the browser game that just debuted to less-than-enthusiastic reviews.
Another awesome thing about the release being on Viveport is that any VR headset can access games on that service but you will need to be subscribed to the Infinity platform to play Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall according to The Next Web.
