Apple might be releasing a new augmented and virtual reality headset soon, and the rumors are sounding exciting. According to The Information, Apple staffers have confirmed many of the reports about specs such as dual custom 4K OLED microdisplay lenses with 120-degree field of view and IPD adjustment powered by eye tracking. Additionally, there is an external tethered waist battery for 2 hours of life that avoids bulky rear batteries often seen in other headsets.
The headset will also feature more than dozen sensors including LiDAR depth cameras for mixed reality experiences along with iris scanning for authentication and payments using Apple Pay. There’s even an external display on the front passing through a view from the eye-tracking camera so others can see your face whilst immersed in AR or VR experiences! The 1st generation Snapdragon XR2 Quest Pro pales in comparison technologically but costs around $1500 while this device could cost up to $3000 when released later this year according to Ming-Chi Kuo; definitely worth considering if you’re looking for high quality AR/VR content anytime soon!
