Apple is expected to reveal a new, highly anticipated head mounted display during its upcoming annual WWDC conference. Mark Gurman’s report claims that CEO Tim Cook was originally adamant about the use of augmented reality glasses, but Apple soon realized it wasn’t feasible due to various technical challenges. However, 90% of the project team went towards developing this headset instead. Other companies like Nreal have released AR glasses but they can’t perform many appealing uses cases yet and others like Microsoft and Magic Leap have developed for bulkier goggles targets at businesses rather than consumers. Despite these issues with true AR glasses, headsets such as Apple’s can deliver a quality experience through high resolution color passthrough cameras which offer wider fields of view without compromising performance or cost effectiveness. WWDC takes place June 5-9 where we’ll find out more details on what this revolutionary device offers!
